Welcome back to another flooring blog with your friends at Rejuvenation Floor & Design! Today is our segment where we shine a light on some misconceptions involving old-school thought on flooring. With the new range of offerings, this isn’t your grandma’s floor!
1. Laminate flooring is cheap and low-quality: While laminate flooring can be more affordable compared to solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, tile and LVP flooring, it's not necessarily low-quality. Modern laminate flooring options offer excellent durability, scratch resistance, and have a flood rating of at least 24 hours.
2. Laminate flooring looks fake: This myth stems from outdated perceptions of laminate flooring. With advancements in technology, today's laminate flooring closely mimics the color tone, texture, and variation of natural materials like hardwood and bamboo flooring.
3. Laminate flooring is difficult to install: While professional installation is recommended for best results, laminate flooring is often designed with DIY installation in mind. Many laminate products feature click-lock systems that make installation straightforward and hassle-free, even for homeowners with limited experience.
4. Laminate flooring can’t handle moisture: While it's true that excessive moisture can damage laminate flooring, modern laminate products are designed to be more water-resistant than ever before. With proper installation and maintenance, laminate flooring can withstand everyday spills and moisture without warping or buckling.
5. Laminate flooring is easily damaged: While laminate flooring is not indestructible, it is highly durable and resistant to scratches, stains, and fading. With proper care and maintenance, laminate flooring can maintain its appearance and integrity for many years, even in high-traffic areas.
6. Laminate flooring is difficult to clean: On the contrary, laminate flooring is relatively easy to clean and maintain. Regular sweeping, vacuuming, and occasional mopping with a damp cloth or approved laminate floor cleaner are usually all that's needed to keep laminate floors looking their best.
7. Laminate flooring is environmentally unfriendly: While some early laminate products may have raised environmental concerns, many modern laminate flooring options are manufactured using sustainable practices and eco-friendly materials. Additionally, most of the laminate flooring core is made from recycled wood fibers.
